Stylo Design produced an interesting logo using letters that reflect the word they are creating. They even created a complete (although not completely successful) typeface using the '8' shape.
Oh, and I'd have reversed the 'i'...

You're thinking of letter forms, they're thinking logo. If you look at their logo with the 'i' their way, you'll see that the E and the i work together to gestalt the number in a way yours doesn't.
Yep, you're right conrad... sky pointed this out to me as well... still don't like the reversed 'i' though!
